TAFE Queensland was established by the TAFE Queensland Act 2013 as a statutory body on 1 July 2014. This legislation defines the objectives and functions associated with the governance of TAFE Queensland. TAFE Queensland has a legislative responsibility to publish policies and procedures in key areas. These include: health and safety, VET Student Loans entry, complaints, public interest disclosure, supplier information, and a range of student policies.

TAFE Queensland is required to publish schedules and terms and conditions for all promotions and competitions (chance or skill) run by the organisation.
