According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, there is strong future job growth predicted for computer network professionals. This large occupation is expected to create around 17,000 job openings over the next five years.
You will learn to produce information and communications technology (ICT) network architectural design, match ICT needs to the strategic direction of different companies, install and manage enterprise-wide ICT networks, and integrate virtual servers into networks. Successful completion of this course will qualify you to work as a network administrator. It will also give you the foundation skills needed to undertake further studies in your field.

Prior Information Technology experience or technical background is required for direct entry into the Diploma of Information Technology and will be assessed at application stage.
Students should be a minimum of 18 years of age. Student visa applicants under the age of 18 will be accepted where they demonstrate that they will be accompanied by a parent, legal custodian or a suitable relative who is aged 21 or over. This arrangement requires the approval of the Department of Home Affairs. For more information visit Department of Home Affairs - Welfare Requirements for Student Visa Applicants under 18.
It is recommended that you have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for use at all TAFE Queensland locations.
You will be provided with a recommended reading list and/or required textbooks during orientation or at the start of each unit. The purchase of these resources may incur additional costs, or you may be able to borrow them from the TAFE Queensland library network.
You are also required to have access to and bring a USB or external hard drive (minimum 1TB), and personal stationary.
Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
