Townsville beauty student Juanita Bowditch drew inspiration from nature to create her winning look at the Creative Vision Awards.

Juanita knows first-hand what it's like to be a busy bee, graduating with both a Certificate III in Beauty Services (SHB30115) and a Diploma of Beauty Therapy (SHB50115) in 2019.

"I am also a mum-of-five, soon to be six," said Juanita.

Juanita and her classmates put their skills to the test for the 2019 Creative Vision Awards beauty parade at the Townsville (Pimlico) campus.

"I really wanted to create something nice and bright."

Juanita said she didn't need to look far to find the perfect inspiration.

"I keep bees at home and I decided that my Creative Vision look would highlight the significance of the humble honey bee and its importance to our ecosystem, as well as the intricacies of honeycomb," she said.

"Everything went to plan, my model was my eldest daughter and it took around two and a half hours to complete the look from start to finish," she continued.

"The look included a honeycomb design; I used makeup for shading and brightness and a little bit of face paint to add a pop of colour."

"I customised lash extensions and strip extensions to create yellow and black lashes, and I also custom made a fascinator hair piece."

Juanita said she was speechless when her look was announced as the winner of the 2019 Creative Vision Awards.

"I was completely gobsmacked!"

"My daughter had to elbow me because I was just standing there in shock."

"I was up against so many other talented therapists and I didn't think that I would be picked as the winner - so it was a nice surprise."

Juanita said she loves working in the beauty industry and operates her own salon from home.

"I enjoy meeting people and having that little bit of input to make them feel better about themselves."

"As a beauty therapist you can do something simple and take someone from not feeling confident to making them feel amazing - I love being able to do that."
